Kitchen Wall Art

The kitchen is where everything happens. It's where you make your morning coffee, where friends end up standing at parties, and where the good conversations happen while something bubbles away on the stove. So why are kitchen walls so often bare?

We started Food For Everyone because we think the food we love deserves a spot on the wall. Every print here is a limited-edition artwork about cooking, eating and sharing, made by artists we admire and printed locally in Melbourne.

What makes good kitchen wall art?

Our rule is simple: it should make you hungry, or at least make you smile. A few things we look for:

1. Food you actually love. A bowl of pasta, a tin of sardines, a perfect cut melon. Art about the things you cook and eat feels personal straight away.

2. A story behind it. Our recipe posters come with the real recipe from the chef, so you can cook what's hanging on your wall.

3. Colour that suits your space. Warm terracottas, fresh greens and deep blues all sit nicely against timber, tiles and stone benchtops.

Recipe posters: art you can cook from

Each recipe poster pairs a chef we admire with an artist we love. You get the full recipe and a beautiful artwork in one. Think Julia Busuttil Nishimura's Handmade Tiramisù, Josh Niland's Salt and Vinegar Fish painted by Ken Done, or Nat Thaipun's Kangaroo Larb by Lisa Nooin.

And every recipe poster you buy donates four meals to SecondBite. Together we've donated over one million meals so far.

Italian Mini framed art prints by Gemma Leslie

Food art prints for every kitchen

Not everything needs a recipe. Our art prints look just as good in the kitchen:

- Still lifes like Sunlit Melon Still Life and Summer Watermelon for a fresh, sunny wall.

- For coffee people, the Buono Moka Pot or 3pm Espresso.

- Little framed minis from our Italian Minis, perfect on a shelf or lined up in a row.

- or the kids, The Edible Alphabet and more in our Kids Room edit.

Where to hang art in the kitchen

- Above a bench or open shelf, at eye level. Around 20 to 30 cm above the benchtop works well.

- Next to the dining table, where everyone sits and actually looks at it.

- In a little row. Two or three minis along a ledge or shelf make a big impact without a big wall.

- A little away from the stove and kettle. Steam and splashes aren't friends with paper, so frame your print behind perspex or glass.

What size should I choose?

Depending on the design, our prints come in A4 (21 x 29.7 cm), A3 (29.7 x 42 cm) and A2 (42 x 59.4 cm). Check each product for the sizes it comes in.

- A4 is lovely leaning on a shelf or windowsill.

- A3 suits a small wall, a splashback nook or a pair side by side.

- A2 makes more of a statement above a dining table or a long bench.

Framing your print

Our solid teak frames come in A4, A3 and A2 with clear perspex, so they're light, easy to hang and safe in a busy kitchen. Renters, they work with adhesive hanging strips too. Our magnetic teak frames are a quick and easy option for A2 and A3 prints.

FAQs

Are your prints printed in Australia?

Yes. Every poster is printed locally in Melbourne by Pinky Print, on Extract paper made from recycled coffee cups.

Do your posters come framed?

Our posters come unframed, so you can choose a frame that suits your kitchen. You can add one of our teak frames, or take it to your local framer. Our Italian Minis come framed and ready to hang.

Can I hang a print in the kitchen without it getting damaged?

Absolutely. Frame it behind perspex or glass and hang it a little away from the stove, kettle and sink. Our paper is uncoated, so it's happiest protected.
