Queen's Harvest

Queen's Harvest

In 1960, Antonio Tripodi arrived in Melbourne from Calabria, Italy, in search of new beginnings and opportunity for a more prosperous life for his family.

He quickly became acquainted with fresh produce and began selling fruit and vegetables from Stall 26 A-shed at the Queen Victoria Market with his wife Maria. Generations later, their legacy lives on at Queen's Harvest with the Tripodi family still at the helm.

The Poster

Artist Samantha Ashdown conjures the vibrant energy of the market in her still-life painting of fresh produce from Queen's Harvest. A market box overflows with artichokes, lemons, sweet potato onto the artist's desk; carrots nestled into her paint brushes. Samantha's use of bright colour and dynamic movement beautifully captures the joy of food that the Tripodi family has brought to the city for decades.
