Artist Jordan Dymke immerses us in the entire world of cookbook author Julia Busuttil Nishimura in his portrayal of her Torta Paradiso - an Italian sponge cake with stewed plums.

In a watercolour series, Jordan depicts a slice of the Torta Paradiso on the cook’s favourite plate, followed by jewel-like plums spilling from a bowl.

In a heartfelt homage, Jordan also includes Julia herself, captured in her kitchen—a space that is integral to her work. In portraying Julia in this piece, it reminds us that a recipe is more than ingredients; a recipe is a direct expression of the person who creates it.
