What to eat at the Australian Open 2025

Nothing like the Australian Open to drag us out of our post-Christmas slump. We may be biased, but let's face it – the food is just as much a reason to head to Melbourne Park as the tennis itself.

While the world’s best players battled it out on the courts, we embarked on our own quest, trawling the grounds in search of the best bites. From refreshing drinks to summery eats, here are Gemma’s food picks from this year’s lineup.

Ostro Mediterranean

Location: Garden Square

Eat: Za'atar Calamari ($23)
Drink: Julia's Limonata Rosa ($9)

Za'atar Calamari:  Fresh, tender calamari coated in a light batter spiced with za’atar. Crunchy, balanced, and moreish - perfect summer eating.

Limonata: An ideal companion for long afternoons watching the action on the courts, Julia's pink limonata was tangy, crisp, and refreshing.

Good Days

Location: Western Courts

Eat: Vegetable Spring Roll Noodle Salad ($21.90)
Drink: House-Made Iced Sencha ($7)

Vegetable Spring Roll Noodle Salad: I always crave Vietnamese food in the summer and Good Days always hits the spot. Crunchy spring rolls, fresh herbs, silky noodles and a tangy dressing. So satisfying without being heavy.

Sencha: Served ice-cold, this was revitalising and thirst-quenching, providing a much-needed pick-me-up.

Top Snacc

Location: Topcourt

Eat: Cheeseburger ($18)

A classic done right. This is exactly what you want in a cheeseburger! Pillowy bun, juicy patty, melted cheese, and just the right amount of sauce.

A1 Bakery

Location: Garden Square

Eat: Chicken Wrap ($19)

I love A1 Bakery and it was such a thrill to see them debut at the Aus Open. Their chicken wrap is the kind of food that feels like it was made with love — marinated chicken, pickles, slaw and hot chips all rolled into one. Perfect for when you’re on the go but still want something hearty and satisfying.

Peach Melbourne

Location: Court 3, Kia Arena and Topcourt

Eat: Peach Melbourne soft serve ($7.50)

I can't believe I haven't eaten this before! Cleverly named after the 'Peach Melba', this is the AO's signature dessert, vanilla soft serve swirled with peach sorbet and freeze-dried raspberries. It was refreshing, light and not too sweet. Plus its made from 100% Australian fruit making it great for kiddies.

Lastly, a special shout-out to D.O.C.  - I was too full to eat a pizza but I'm a HUGE fan.

Whether you’re a die-hard tennis fan or simply here for the food (like us), this year’s Australian Open serves on all fronts. Remember to pack sunscreen (and your appetite).
