King & Godfree, one of the city's oldest grocers, introduced Melbourne to Italian delights like parmesan, cannolis, and the panettone—an icon of italian Christmas.
So it was only natural that we teamed up with them to create a limited-edition Panettone Classico to celebrate the festive season this year!
This collaboration with King & Godfree is a delicious ode to the city and its rich culinary heritage, embodying the lively spirit of Lygon street (arguably the epicentre of Italian culture in Melbourne).
Artist Gemma Leslie designed packaging in her iconic and playful style to house the panettone handcrafted by local artisanal bakers Pane E Pizzico.
Using a 40-year-old lievito madre (sourdough starter), the panettone has a rich yet delicate dough speckled with sweet raisins and glazed orange peel. We love it lightly toasted with our morning espresso, but it's equally delicious dressed up in a cinnamon French toast or an elaborate trifle.
And in the true spirit of Christmas, 100% of profits from this collaboration are donated to our charity partner SecondBite to help feed people in need.
